What is friendship?

He was a genius who belonged to a very humble background. He made groundbreaking contributions to his field without any formal education. He once said, "An equation for me has no meaning unless it expresses a thought of God." He was often considered a lunatic by his peers at school because of his hardheaded intelligence. He was often a loner. He had very few friends and hardly held any close assistance with anyone.

When once asked, "You don't seem to have friends. Why do you hesitate in building a close friendship with anyone? "
He calmly said, "I wish I could have close friends but I haven't found anyone yet who fits in my definition of a true friend."

The person was very curios to know what a genius like him looks for in a friend.

What are the qualities you look for in a person to befriend him?
I look for a relationship like the numbers 220 and 284 share with each other.
Errr...What? I think either you got my question wrong or I'm unable to decipher your answer.
You heard it right, these two numbers are the epitome of a true friendship.
How? Can you please explain?
Okay, just write down the divisors of both these numbers.

After a little difficulty, the person listed the divisors as instructed.
220 - 1,2,4,5,10,11,20,22,44,55,110,220
284 - 1,2,4,71,142,284
Great, now can you please sum the divisors of each number excluding the number itself. The result was astonishing. The person got his answer as he calculated the sum.
220:  1+2+4+5+10+11+20+22+44+55+110 = 284
284:  1+2+4+71+142 = 220

He looked up in awe at the greatest mathematician of the century, Srinivasa Ramanujan. He was confounded at Ramanujan's expertise and understanding of subtle human relations.

The number 220 represented the number 284 in its absence and vice versa. Both the numbers contained within themselves the other one.  An ideal friendship should be like these two numbers, to complement each other, even when one is absent, the other should represent the friend. These two numbers, though different from each other, represented a mutual connection at a deeper level which is required the most in a close-knit friendship.

Even after decades, Ramanujan’s theory for a close friendship holds true. If two people can have ingrained in them the same set of core values and qualities and if one can mirror the qualities of the other even in the other’s absence, then such two people can symbolize and represent a true friendship.

In this journey of life, we meet many people, some pass-by, some leave behind an impression and some stay by our side. We carry a glimpse of everybody we meet. We often don't realize but we mirror the basic traits of people who are closely associated with us. We can't be sure of the time we would live that bond but one thing we can be sure of is embody the best of the other in ourselves and exude the goodness even when the other is not around. Be the 220 and 284 and leave the rest to the principles of Mathematics. This world will become a more better and happier place than before.

You are still the one - Someone Special !

To
My Dear Dearest Friend First Love,

I thought you were a closed chapter in the book of my life until your message after two months of college dragged me back to you. Just a simple 'Hi' was more than enough to strike the conversation, or say the trigger to shoot up the suppressed anger and blame each other for breaking up. That night we talked till midnight, hiding under the blankets to veil up the mobile lights which otherwise might have alerted our Moms of something fishy. ;)

For you, the charming lady, here I confess you were the one whose handwriting is the one I tried to copy. The ornate flowery calligraphy, smooth curves in every alphabet!! Gosh! How do you do that??

Wait! What you thought?? I was going to confess something else. Haha!!! I caught you. Well! That I have already confessed before you. So no need to revise it again and again. If you wish to, then tell me, I can do hundred of times, Just for you ;) But don't make me do actual hunDREAD , pity me, Lady ! :P

So, you were all an over story after college. But the armistice or ceasefire proposed by you brought us back on track. The only medium which kept us together was the Watsapp. Sometimes I wonder had it not been there, had you ever come back to me? had we ever talked again? had we ever fought again? had we ever laughed again? Thank-you Watsapp for bringing My Charm back to me :)

But then the job separated us thousand of miles away. The new work life, new friends, new city, new air breathed inside us and the communication gap exhaled with every passing day. Distance became our excuse and infrequent pings became a habit. Gradually we got used to our 'a contact in the list' attitude. Once in a year, we used to miss each other and talked the heart out, of the whole year in one day. For me, that one day was enough. You remember me, that was all for me.

With the growing age, my memory was fading away. Today I was just browsing my lappy and I accidentally faltered upon a folder. When I stepped inside it, it was storing YOU. So, now you were a part of some archived collection and I just found you. I was all elated to see you. Your angelic smile and my mischievous poses made the picture perfect. I went back to the happy times we enjoyed, we roamed, we ate, we rode, we studied and we cooked :D  How fond we were of each other that we kept each others' photo as wallpapers. Entire college was going crazy at our stupid acts. But we cared for none and ruled the time. :P

Suddenly, my eyes went to the lower-right corner of the screen, and I noticed it was 11:50 pm , 16-11-2015. My brain signaled, enough of smiling to yourself, now smile in dreams. But hey wait! it's 16-11. After 10 minutes, it's going to be 17-11. Ohh Shit! Hell Yeah!!! It's 17. I tried to recollect and yes it was always 17th of November. My brain suggested to crosscheck once over FB. But by the time it was already 11:58 pm. To hell be the verification, let me dial and check it with her only. It's almost 2 years since I have heard her Tweety HELLO. Let me hear it one more time.

Amber tint of Diu in Ambipur's Fragrance

“The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.”
So to read a few more pages of this book, we set out on our weekend trip and this time we targeted reading the unexplored pages of the beautiful island DIU. We soon sketched our road map from Ahmedabad to Diu.

Distance between Ahmedabad and Diu : 354 kms
Time taken to travel : 6 hours 15 mins

Ahmedabad-Diu road map

As said "A journey is best measured in friends, rather than miles". So we, a muckle of twenty friends, geared up to measure this distance to dabble in the colourful hue of Diu.

Since we all could not get accommodated in a car, so we decided to hire a bus. Yeah! a Volvo bus to fix all the twenty monsters under one roof. To sweeten the trip, we also took an    Ambi Pur air freshener so that the driver always feels fresh and we can breathe in pleasance.

We started on Saturday morning at around 8 a.m. much later than the scheduled time of      6 a.m. How can the nocturnal beasts like us get up early on weekends. Anyhow after umpteen calls to each other, finally the gang occupied the bus. 'Asli majaa SAB ke sath aata hai' . All were in the party mood to set the bus floor on fire.

Capturing every tangy and spicy moment is a must-do for every trip so that the trip remains vivid and fresh forever whenever you flip back. I was all set with my camera to flash and wink at everyone.

The monsters had gone crazy in Ambi Pur's fragrance. Everyone wanted to be clicked as if Anurag Kashyap was looking for the next Barfi. Some were sitting still because they still couldn't overcome the past night's lullaby. Some were poking the still idols to get them into motion. Some were looking for their Jhilmil. Some were flaunting their new branded glares. Some were flaunting their new attires. In short everyone was occupied with the silliest of the tasks the world has ever seen. The old melodies in the air added to the mood and all the crazy fellows sunk in the madness.

The flock  babbled...
Zindagi ek safar hai suhana
Yahan kal kya ho kisne jaana
Boys pitched these at the loudest....
Yeh dil na hota bechara, kadam na hote aawara
Jo khubsurat koyee apana humsafar hota

gaadi vaale gaadi dhire haank re
jiyaa udaa jaaye lade aankh re hoy

All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go
I'm standin' here outside your door
All were pointing towards the only jumbo in our group....
Chal chal chal mere haathi, O mere saathi
chal le chal khatara kheench ke

This time the girls were in action...
Yeh ladka hai allah kaisa hai divana
Kitna mushkil hai tauba isko samjhana

Again awakening the only desire of boys...
Mere sapnon ki rani kab aayegi tu
Aayi rut mastaani kab aayegi tu

The gang hummed ...
Zindagi ke safar mein guzar jate hain jo makam,
woh phir nahin aate

The guys were on their knees...
Hume Tumse Pyaar Kitna Yeh Hum Nahin Jaante
Magar Jee Nahin Sakte Tumhaare Bina

The guys and girls were in the field...
Ladki kyon na jane kyon Ladkon si nahin hoti
Sochti hai zyada, kam wo samajhti hai

The song jazzed up the sphere...
Hum jo chalane lage, chalane lage hain yeh raaste
aa ha ha ha manjil se behtar lagane lage hai yeh raaste

It was really romancing with the wheels. The wind in the hair, the trees passing by silently, the people gurgling with laughter, the changing colour of hills, the music falling into ears, and the eyes tracing the long unwinding beautiful country roads made me fall in love with the journey.

How fast did the time fluttered no one noticed until the driver honked loud saying, "We have reached Diu". On reaching there, few of us went to book hotel for such a huge crowd. Rest of us stayed back looking for something to feed the rats in the stomach. Luckily we got rooms in a nearby hotel at affordable price. All were asked to take some rest and gather in the evening. After such lively hours, each one of us fell dormant for a few hours. In the evening at around 5p.m. we steered the bus towards Diu fort. It took around 20 minutes to reach there.

Diu Fort is located on the coastal side of the of Diu Island near by the Arabian Sea. The fort offers a kaleidoscopic view of Diu town, which is located very close to it, and its adjacent areas. It is noteworthy that this fort of Diu lies in the strategic complex that comprises of Passo Seco Fort, Nagoa Fort, Gogola and Barra. The fort was built by the Portuguese during their colonial rule of the Diu island. The fort was built in 1535 subsequent to a defense alliance forged by Bahadur Shah, the Sultan of Gujarat and the Portuguese when Humayun, the Mughal Emperor waged war to annex this territory. The Diu fort and the Basilica of Bom Jesus in Old Goa were chosen as the two wonders from India, among the seven from across the world, out of a list of 27 monuments built in 16 countries during the Portuguese rule.

We explored every corner of the fort for the next four hours. We decently completed the photo-session ceremony with every historical mark. Digging into every crook of the fort, we went back to the hotel. In the night, we again searched for some restaurant to feed twenty hungry storks. It was a very nice experience to sit together on the dinning table, deciding the menu for half an hour and after much discussion ordering some plain food. It was really fun to be together.

Next day, it was decided to leave by 9 a.m. so that no one has to compromise with their sleeps. But still the lazy lizards made it half an hour late. So on Sunday morning we left for Nagoa beach. It took 20 minutes to reach there.

Nagoa beach in Diu is horse shoe shaped bordered by palm hoka trees. It has clam water ideal for swimming, sailing, boating, and water skiing. Nagoa beach is well known for 'hoka' and 'rukhada' trees which are originally African and brought to India by Arabian traders. We all dunked into the waters and had lots of fun.We even lazed in the sea beach enjoying the balmy breeze and the sight of swaying palm trees.

After gulping enough of the salty water, we moved towards the sunset point. Sunset Point is a small beach in Diu, which is famous for watching the sun set. There we saw a serene sunset, waves attacking the coast, and heard the soothing gurgle of Arabian sea. It is the one of the amazing place on island.

The setting sun ,the serene waves and the calm breeze gave the most solacing experience we ever have had. I felt like sitting there forever in nature's lap. It seemed as if every wave babbled something into my ears, the cold wind gently kissed me each time it breezed past me and the setting sun gave the message of hope, after every sunset the sun rises to spread the amber hue.

After spending almost two tranquil hours beside the Arabian sea, we boarded the bus back for Ahmedabad. The calmness of the breeze was hovering everyone's mind but soon all got up from their seats to groove to the music. We had already taken a good number of rocking tracks with us. So, on the way back, the peppy people leaped and bounced to some shaky-wavy tracks.
Pehli baat to yeh, Jo tu tik-tok tik-tok chalti hai
Maana ye saari teri high heels ki galti hai

Chikni chameli chhup ke akeli

 pawwa  chadha ke aayi

 Ooh la la…Ooh la la…
Tu hai meri fantasy..

Mundeyan nu chardi thaari thaari thaari ohdi heat te
Marjani paundi bhangra Angrezi beat te

Hua chhokra jawaan re
Hua chokra jawaan re,Hey hey
Subah hone na de, saath khone na de
Ek doosre ko hum sone na de
Tu mera hero ...
Battiyan bujha lo jee, Jinde kunde la lo ji
What I say just follow ji, This party getting hot
Char baj gaye lekin party abhi baaki hai

We all wished that this 'Perfect Road Trip' never ends. Still having the hangover of this beautiful journey and finding it difficult to concentrate on what the person standing on the podium trying to explain. I'm just humming.
Chalte Chalte Mere Yeh Geet Yaad Rakhna
Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna

Listen to your heart..

This post has been selected amongst the Blogadda’s WOW posts of the week.

A bright sunny day with my yearning eyes to see her nearly after a week and my heart lost in the past impressions gave me the strength to stand for an hour while waiting for her train.

With headphones plugged in my ears, some music striking the ear drums, my mind was asking my heart “Why ??? why???”

And heart was trying its best to mollify the indignantly stubborn mind.

Mind- “Why did she broke the parapet of trust??”

Heart- “It just seems she has broken. Perhaps she is just checking the endurance of trust??”.

Mind- “What rubbish?? Is this the way to check something so fragile??.

Heart- “If trust is fragile, then make it strong like diamond so that it embellishes your bonding”.

Mind- “ Cease the stream of your gyaan. She has spurned my love, my care for her.”

Heart-“ Who in this world disdains true affection?? It’s just another of your illusion”.

Mind-“People like her are born to hurt, born to mock, born to kick off selfless hearts.”

Heart- “She is good at heart. Give her another chance”.

Mind-“Even a murderer is good at heart. Give her one more chance to hit me. One more chance to aggravate the bruises. Sorry Boss!”.

Heart- “Then why are you here? You are here because you still care for her.”

Mind- Silence… silence.
Heart-“You are here to catch her glimpse. You are here to quench your eyes which missed her from a week. You are here to welcome her. You are here because she is still your best friend.”

Mind- “Grrrrrr… Shut up! I’m here to break off all relations with her. I’m here to never meet her again.”

Heart- (chuckles) “You are here just to meet her again”.

Mind- (getting red with blood seething in anger).

The vendors buzzed at the highest of their pitch to sell their eatables.
Chaiii ! Chaaii ! Kachori ! Samosa!

My heart and mind put a hiatus to the debate as the train reached platform no. 5.

The passengers were stepping in and out. Some were rushing to get a free space for their hereafter journey. Some were grappling with their luggage to get off the board. A hullaballoo all around.
She was nowhere to be seen.

“But she was to come today only. I had heard her new roomie talking over the phone while I was stirring the coffee”, my heart worriedly said.

“There she is”, mind said after searching and scanning thousands of faces and luggage.
She carried here blue bag as usual- her trace mark.  She looked pretty as always. Her tresses were flowing in the gentle breeze with her one hand wrestling with the luggage, while the other adorning the new i-phone.

“The model is back. Look how is she walking as if doing catwalk on some ramp”, mind angrily said.
“She always carried herself this way only, didn’t she??”,Heart was ready with the answers.

I hid myself behind a zombie man just to elude her vision.

“It seems as if you are stalking her”, heart quipped.
“Why would I stalk her?? She is no Middleton”, mind retorted back.

She headed towards the stairs to cross the junction. I appeared behind her and walked coolly as if I’m in some public park. The music was still buzzing but I hardly remember which song the music player was playing.

Just then a goon looking more of a sub-urban followed her closely. She was still treading carefree. The lummox nudged her at the elbow. She just avoided and quickened her steps.

My heart was saying “Yes” but my head was saying “No”.

The boy started whistling.

My heart was saying, “Go help her”.

My mind was saying, “No ! don’t jump in the fire. You too can get burnt. After all you are also a girl”.
The goon started taking the advantage of the hustle-bustle and teased her again, tickled her again.
At this moment, my mind and my heart joined hands and I moved ahead pushing  behind the fish market. Now I was close enough to both of them. The nuisance oaf touched her beautiful hair this time. She cringed and I fumed. I got hold of his very hand and slapped his rough cheek.

Slap! Slap!Slap!
Silence!

The fish market around us froze. Everyone was looking at three of us.

“Dare not to stalk her again”, I yelled at him.
She turned behind. And looked straight into my eyes but I just stepped down without meeting her for the last time. I was out of the station within a few minutes. I called for an auto. As I sat, way back to my hostel, this time I actually listened to the song playing in my ears.

There are so many temptations in the crazy world today,
And there are so many people tryin' to lead you astray,
Whenever you're confused about all the things you see,
You can't tell a friend from the enemy.
Listen to your heart,

It knows right from wrong,
Let it guide you,
Listen to your heart,
It will make you strong,
Look inside of yourself and listen,
Listen to your heart,
Listen to your heart.
