He was a genius who belonged to a very humble background. He made groundbreaking contributions to his field without any formal education. He once said, "An equation for me has no meaning unless it expresses a thought of God." He was often considered a lunatic by his peers at school because of his hardheaded intelligence. He was often a loner. He had very few friends and hardly held any close assistance with anyone. When once asked, "You don't seem to have friends. Why do you hesitate in building a close friendship with anyone? " He calmly said, "I wish I could have close friends but I haven't found anyone yet who fits in my definition of a true friend." The person was very curios to know what a genius like him looks for in a friend. What are the qualities you look for in a person to befriend him? I look for a relationship like the numbers 220 and 284 share with each other. Errr...What? I think either you got my question wrong or I'm unable to decipher your answer. You heard it right, these two numbers are the epitome of a true friendship. How? Can you please explain? Okay, just write down the divisors of both these numbers. After a little difficulty, the person listed the divisors as instructed.
220 - 1,2,4,5,10,11,20,22,44,55,110,220
284 - 1,2,4,71,142,284
Great, now can you please sum the divisors of each number excluding the number itself. The result was astonishing. The person got his answer as he calculated the sum.
220: 1+2+4+5+10+11+20+22+44+55+110 = 284
284: 1+2+4+71+142 = 220
He looked up in awe at the greatest mathematician of the century, Srinivasa Ramanujan. He was confounded at Ramanujan's expertise and understanding of subtle human relations.
The number 220 represented the number 284 in its absence and vice versa. Both the numbers contained within themselves the other one. An ideal friendship should be like these two numbers, to complement each other, even when one is absent, the other should represent the friend. These two numbers, though different from each other, represented a mutual connection at a deeper level which is required the most in a close-knit friendship.
Even after decades, Ramanujan’s theory for a close friendship holds true. If two people can have ingrained in them the same set of core values and qualities and if one can mirror the qualities of the other even in the other’s absence, then such two people can symbolize and represent a true friendship.
In this journey of life, we meet many people, some pass-by, some leave behind an impression and some stay by our side. We carry a glimpse of everybody we meet. We often don't realize but we mirror the basic traits of people who are closely associated with us. We can't be sure of the time we would live that bond but one thing we can be sure of is embody the best of the other in ourselves and exude the goodness even when the other is not around. Be the 220 and 284 and leave the rest to the principles of Mathematics. This world will become a more better and happier place than before.
The tagline of my blog says, Silly Smiles take you Miles... it's wonderful to live your saying, your belief and perceive it in real. It's actually inexplicable how you feel when your words become alive with their real meaning and make you dance to their tune.
Since my childhood, I had always been fascinated by Clowns. When we used to play cards, I always used to wonder why the joker is always left out. I used to feel very bad for that Joker card being sequestered and instead used to keep it in my deck. Whenever there was a circus show in the town, I was all excited not to see the lions and elephants dancing but the clown juggling the balls and deliberately making fall his red nose or colorful curls instilling laughter in the air. I always thought how difficult it is to make someone else laugh, to make them forget about their pain and misery and soak them in the wave of joy and laughter. This very thought always provoked me and apparently brimmed in the form of my maiden poem Spreading Smiles.
I had never thought that the joker so much playful in my subconscious mind will attract me to play its role one day. These lines are popping up in my mind from James Allen's , "As a Man Thinketh",
Mind is the Master power that moulds and makes,
And Man is Mind, and evermore he takes
The tool of Thought, and, shaping what he wills,
Brings forth a thousand joys, a thousand ills: —
He thinks in secret, and it comes to pass:
Environment is but his looking-glass.
So, I became a clown. Yes, I did. I dissolved my identity to embark on the journey of spreading love and happiness. And the first lesson I learnt was to be compassionate. Yes, in the world where we are all confined to our tiny cubicles unaware of the person sitting at our backside but communicating to unseen souls through social media, are we compassionate enough to hear the sob of the person sitting beside us. Have we ever noticed why the person who was coming regularly, occupying the seat next to us has suddenly stopped coming. Do we ever bother to ask a person how he is doing after a long sick leave. Are we really compassionate or we have forgotten what being compassionate means.
I became a Clown, not just a clown but a compassionate clown to heal the tiny souls undergoing excruciating pain with a little love and happiness. As my doctor friend says, "laughter helps in fighting stress. It reduces pain by releasing endorphins (the body's natural painkiller), boosts the immune system by increasing the level of T cells & lowering serum cortisol levels, thereby promoting a positive outlook. Laughter helps people to cope with difficult situations and create loving and helpful bonds which aids the healing process." Compassionate Clowning is an initiative taken up by compassionate clowns to visit hospitals and help the doctors and patients in their battle with their sword of laughter fighting away the pain and distress. Compassionate Clowns is a group of volunteers where anybody and everybody is welcomed with warmth and love. The volunteers gather every weekend in different cities and visit the nearby hospitals to infuse the air of ailing pain with refreshing laughter and happiness. This clowning activity is carried out in different cities of India like Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Rajkot. You can easily connect with the nearest clowning group at their facebook page and volunteer for the noble cause -https://www.facebook.com/CompassionateClown I took the new year resolution to be more compassionate and became the clown with a red nose and pink cheeks at Gujarat Cancer Society Hospital, Ahmedabad. The clowns are regularly visiting the children suffering from cancer being treated at this hospital. Every saturday it seems as if the entire children ward awaits their arrival. From parents to doctors to hospital staff to the anxiously waiting tiny tots.
There's nothing more contagious than the laughter of young toons.
As the clowns dress up, paint their faces, the passing-by patients and visitors curiously look at us for being so colorful and vibrant at a morbid place. And we greet them with our vivacious smiles and joy.
Clowns with the Hospital Staff
As this was my first time being a clown, we started off with painting our faces red and yellow. Then we made a circle holding hands to share the positive vibes amongst ourselves and take the oath to spread it forward with everybody we come in contact with.
Clowns taking the pledge
I was the engine of this session. Yeah, the chhuk chhuk gadi engine ;) We entered the children ward like a vibrant colorful train. The children resting in their beds woke up and smiled. So, finally the jokers are here. We were late by half an hour and one child was very angry. See the receptivity of the child for warmth and happiness that he refrains to wait by even a few minutes.
Why are you late today?? Can't you see me waiting for you with this mickey specs?
The clowns are in action now. They have dissolved their identity of a student, of a job seeker, of a tired professional. They are just the clowns saying sorry to the little child by dancing to his favourite song.
Acchi Nani, Pyaari Nani, Maan jao na ;)
As it was the new year, so we had carried new year hand-made cards for all the children wishing them a bright and healthy new year. We chatted with them like our own siblings and asked them to write down their goals. "What would you like to be??" See, we are giving them a hope to achieve their dreams irrespective of the disease they are suffering. If you wish you can, then you surely can!
Happy New Year Princess!
We blew balloons, we sang with the children, we told them stories, we chit-chat with them. They love us as clowns and we love them more and more. Some children are very naughty. Afterall how can one disease take away their innocence and we make sure that never happens.
Inky Pinky Ponky
The little energy packets energized us more than we had expected. They make us the child again and take us back to our golden days. They forget about their pain and get lost in our stories and magic tricks.
And when you find a cute child dreaming to be SRK, the clown teaches him how to be SRK. And the entire ward becomes a movie theatre with dialogues of SRK, Bacchhan, Kapoor falling around.
Click me fast! I'm the new SRK ;)
The doctors also find it refreshing to laugh heartily and enjoy with their little patients. They always say, "I pray this child lives his dream of being a pilot."
Dr. Uncle! See my mustache, I have grown up now :P
More surprisingly, its the parents who participate in the games and feel joyful. They enjoy us as clowns and we enjoy seeing them laughing and cuddling with their kids in all joy and happiness.
A happy Tigress mum with the SherKhan :)
As we leave for the day, we share our experiences with each other and there's always a lesson learnt. We always complain of trivial things, of being deprived of this and that. But as we see the little guns fighting against all odds, we are charged up. One clown said it so rightly, "I dont come here to make them happy. I come here because they make me happy. "
All colorful Clowns:)
This is all possible with the energy of togetherness. No one clown has the strength to go alone inside the room full of pain and agony. Sometimes we too break down on seeing our brothers/sisters in such tormenting pain. But together we vibrate in symphony and blow the breeze of triumphant happiness.
We are a Happy Family :)
Smiles are contagious and we are its brand ambassadors. We spread it, gather it, spread it more and blow it around creating a peaceful happy aura. We believe in making people happy together. We are #SpreadTheVibe. Come, join us in spreading this vibe all across.
Clowns in Caps!

What doesn't let you sleep is a Dream And what drools you in sleep is a Dream in sleep Subtle and elusive it is The power to fantasize the reality The realm to experience the diversity. The ghost-driven bike Or the roller coaster ride The merry-merry sack Or the scary -scary pack Ambivalent is a Dream Happily Sad you become to find 'dream-come-true-in-dream' Or Sadistically Happy you go to discover 'Thank God! It was just a dream' Dreaming in a dream is reflexive But living a dream is volunteered What are you waiting for my dear Go on to live the dream you cheer!
To My Dear Dearest Friend First Love, I thought you were a closed chapter in the book of my life until your message after two months of college dragged me back to you. Just a simple 'Hi' was more than enough to strike the conversation, or say the trigger to shoot up the suppressed anger and blame each other for breaking up. That night we talked till midnight, hiding under the blankets to veil up the mobile lights which otherwise might have alerted our Moms of something fishy. ;) For you, the charming lady, here I confess you were the one whose handwriting is the one I tried to copy. The ornate flowery calligraphy, smooth curves in every alphabet!! Gosh! How do you do that?? Wait! What you thought?? I was going to confess something else. Haha!!! I caught you. Well! That I have already confessed before you. So no need to revise it again and again. If you wish to, then tell me, I can do hundred of times, Just for you ;) But don't make me do actual hunDREAD , pity me, Lady ! :P So, you were all an over story after college. But the armistice or ceasefire proposed by you brought us back on track. The only medium which kept us together was the Watsapp. Sometimes I wonder had it not been there, had you ever come back to me? had we ever talked again? had we ever fought again? had we ever laughed again? Thank-you Watsapp for bringing My Charm back to me :) But then the job separated us thousand of miles away. The new work life, new friends, new city, new air breathed inside us and the communication gap exhaled with every passing day. Distance became our excuse and infrequent pings became a habit. Gradually we got used to our 'a contact in the list' attitude. Once in a year, we used to miss each other and talked the heart out, of the whole year in one day. For me, that one day was enough. You remember me, that was all for me. With the growing age, my memory was fading away. Today I was just browsing my lappy and I accidentally faltered upon a folder. When I stepped inside it, it was storing YOU. So, now you were a part of some archived collection and I just found you. I was all elated to see you. Your angelic smile and my mischievous poses made the picture perfect. I went back to the happy times we enjoyed, we roamed, we ate, we rode, we studied and we cooked :D How fond we were of each other that we kept each others' photo as wallpapers. Entire college was going crazy at our stupid acts. But we cared for none and ruled the time. :P Suddenly, my eyes went to the lower-right corner of the screen, and I noticed it was 11:50 pm , 16-11-2015. My brain signaled, enough of smiling to yourself, now smile in dreams. But hey wait! it's 16-11. After 10 minutes, it's going to be 17-11. Ohh Shit! Hell Yeah!!! It's 17. I tried to recollect and yes it was always 17th of November. My brain suggested to crosscheck once over FB. But by the time it was already 11:58 pm. To hell be the verification, let me dial and check it with her only. It's almost 2 years since I have heard her Tweety HELLO. Let me hear it one more time. Trin Trin Boom Boom No Reply Tiding Tiding Hoo Hoo No Reply Beep Beep Busy Ting Tong Hello! Hello!! (excited me) Wish you a Happy Birthday Thanks, but who is this? Silence (sad me) Nidhi??? (Ahh!!! Grrrr!!! She remembers her only.) Well, time changes voice. Oh, you! (both laughing) So, blah blah continued and rest is a happy journey till I post this. This post is dedicated to my version of Aisha from MP3. A very Happy Birthday my dear love.
Something never changes
Like you and me
Adamant and Naughty
Cheers to the 7 years of togetherness
Bless you with the best of the blessings
With you, For you, Then, Now and Always
Thank-you Charm for going through this long post.
Just one last question - Which Class ??? :D :D :D Don't forget to meet me under Eiffel before you rush towards your Rohan. I will bring you strong Stilettos. ;) Because you are my Aisha. :D
P.S. -To all the readers, you must have a different zeal to read this post enticed by the title. Well !!! I didn't made a spoiler alert at the beginning. I Hope you enjoyed the twisty tale :)
"You are a dumbo. Don't even know the solution of this simple problem", shouted my teacher. All my classmates chuckled under their notebooks. I felt very bad. "You can't even take care of your clothes. Look how dirty they look and bad they smell", complained my mother. I became upset. "Can't you see. It was nearly an accident", yelled the stranger with a bald head. I pondered if I took wrong turn. "Give me a break, dude. Your ideas are so boring", my manager was furious to hear me. "Are you alive?", enquired my friend. No, I'm half dead. I wanted to shriek out. Everyone on the earth finds me stupid, dumb, boring and even doubt on my existence. What the hell. I can't be like others. Super intelligent, quick, witty, cool, fast and flexible. No, I can't. Yes, I tried but it was suffocating. I cant fake it for not more than one day. I'm slow. I'm not autistic but you can consider me so. I have grown up listening to downcast comments of friends and foes, knowns and unknowns. And now I have turned deaf to all of them. I have often thought if I'm normal, if I'm kindred to them. For me, I'm perfect, then why to give a hell thought to those who don't find me akin to them. Take a chill pill, let the world think what they want to and let me start afresh to leave them agape in awe of my new life. I convinced myself. The new sun brought a new day in my life. I practiced to speak. Just like a Nursery kid, I started all over again. I was my own coach, my own mentor. I repeated words again and again to throw them out at one go. Initially I stammered heavily. I practiced more. Demosthenes became my role model. I didn't put stones in my mouth like him. But I pushed my potential to the edge. I was determined to make people hear me, my views and opinions. I struggled with my throat, made it comfortable to accommodate vowels and consonants. I rehearsed my own name like a child in front of the mirror. At first I used to broke down. How useless am I, I can't speak my own name. But I overcame this low and grim feeling by rehearsing my name with confidence looking into my own eyes. It's a different feeling to see yourself rising from a timid guy to a confident man daily. Talking to your own reflection and working on all the imperfections made me fall in love with myself more and more.
I was changed. I changed for better. And I was happy to change. I overcame my fear and took up the prolonged task of grooming up myself into a confident guy. I began a new life. It was a fresh start. I can now talk without hesitating. I don't cringe now when I have to convey my thoughts. Confidently I present my thoughts through well formed words. Well may be the spirit of Demosthenes was with me instilling optimism in me. Who knows !!! Anything and everything is possible. You can die twice, you can live twice. It's all upto you to start afresh beating behind all the grey odds and welcoming vibrant, cheerful life.

It is almost two years since we met. Everything was beautiful, everything seemed colorful. Happiness blushed and laughter accompanied. All appeared vibrant and cheerful. The different hues of a happy perfect life unfolded and splattered us with the joyous moments of never-ending days and nights. As the old had said, love makes life beautiful. Ours had indeed turned into super beautiful. From morning rush to look more charming than yesterday to awaited twilight to count stars in each others' eyes set butterflies each day. So enticing, so bewitching never appeared the regular life. But suddenly this regular had turned into a roller-coaster ride charging us up each day. All wondered how can they be at cupid's target. Even we too wondered but the arrow had struck and we were wounded in love. Flying in the sky, weaving dreams together, we lived together in a whole new world where everything seemed possible because we were together and felt the immense power of two. The duo was admired for their mutual understanding and trust, the two essential pillars of a relationship.
Unfortunately, came an earthquake and the pillars got shattered. A little doubt, a bit of insecurity and one's ego shook the pillar. The roller-coaster ride all of a sudden came to a halt. The morning rush turned drab and evenings became lifeless. The power of two broke down. Both broke down, shattered into pieces looking at the half-broken pillars. Both of them wanted their 'togetherness' back but none wanted to remove the debris. It's often in darkness, a ray of light find its way. The overwhelming social media buzzing with daily feeds of love and breakups occupied their brains. Just then their common trait became their saviour. The Badshaah was the favourite of both. It's often when we are depressed and sunk into gloomy dark room, the history of someone we admire serves as a motivation to us. It was SRK's birthday. News channel were crying loud of his success and his famous love story. No success became a hinderance, no religion came in way, it was just their love which won all the way. They gave a thought if it has happened back then at the old time, why can't they be together now. They buckled up to remove the debris, erect the pillars in place and be together to be TOGETHER forever.
Sometimes little stories and faith in something better are the ones you need to look up to rise high and rejuvenate the dragging life into a happy running life.

Sometimes we feel so harassed by life that every moment feels so heavy. We assuage our mind that we cant take it any more. And our brain complies. The world seems no more fit for us and we don't want to get dragged anymore. If you are also feeling it's the time to quit. You can't take life this way any more. You have thought of myriad ideas to quit and are about to execute one. Please hold on. Let me narrate you a real story which will for sure give you goosebumps and compel you to take back your decision. You might feel you are the only one on this earth who is facing problems, who is stuck into the worst, who can never surface to normal life again. But my dear, you are not the ONLY ONE. Meet the brave, enthusiastic, energetic and very lively lady, Arunima Sinha. Arunima Sinha, just an another girl born in Uttar Pradesh, as the neighbors would have looked upon her. She was just a girl. But her faith in herself and her passion allowed her to be called 'AND a national-level Volleyball Player.' She wasn't satisfied with this one AND. She went on to chase ball in the field. She added one more sequin to her personality, 'AND a football player.'
Arunima Sinha - the brave Lady.
She never held back herself in the patriarchal society. She wanted to be independent and responsible. She aspired to join CISF (Central Industrial Security Force). She prepared well for the exam and was all set to fly through. But a dark cloud was hovering over her. She was assaulted by a gangster group in the train she had boarded to reach the exam center. She stood against them resisting to give in. No one in the coach came forward to help her. She stood alone to combat like a warrior. The gangsters had set their eyes on her gold chain. When she got engaged in a tussle with them, the group threw her out of the running train. Yes, she was thrown out. Before she could get hold of herself, she saw another train approaching towards her. The train passed over her. Yes, the wheels rolled over her flesh. She lied there numb and bleeding profusely. The black date was 11 April, 2011.
The spectators turned mute towards her life. Several trains passed on the tracks beside her. She felt the vibrations of each train arriving and departing. By the time she was taken to hospital, it was late, too late. The hospital didn't had blood units to operate on her. But she was alive. She was full of life. She didn't want to die this early. She asked the doctors to operate her. No anesthesia was available. She was ready to bear the pain to see more of the life. Her spirit made the hospital staff donate blood units to her. The pain of letting go her leg, her important body part on which she ran in the field, she jumped in the court, she danced, she walked with gleeful gait was unbearable. The pain sent shivers down her cord and the detachment shook her heart. Moreover, to worsen her state, media just cooked up the entire mishap as Arunima's attempt to suicide. How would she have felt when she got to hear this news. Mental pain is the most severe. Filled with Anguish and Agony, Arunima resolved to answer the world with her actions.
This accident didn't deter her determination. So what if her leg was amputated, from normal she became differently abled, but her spirit didn't retire. She decided to reach Everest summit. Yes, she was ridiculed at such a weird dream. People advised her to sit back instead of boosting her morale. No one but her brother held her hand to pursue her dream. She contacted Bachendri Pal, the first Indian woman to climb Mt. Everest. Pal mentored Sinha. She enrolled for the mountaineering course in Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, Uttarkashi. She fervently started her course and as a rehearsal for the ascent of Everest, she made it to Island Peak (6150m) in 2012.
On April 1, 2013, she started climbing towards her dream. With the good wishes of friends and family and mentor Bachendri's faith, she reached the summit of Mount Everest. Yes, the lady climbed to the highest peak at 10.55 am on 21 May 2013 writing history in the snow. Arunima Sinha became the first female amputee to climb Mount Everest.
I have done it!!!
She believes whatever one dreams is attainable. Nothing but you only have the power to turn around the situation and let the world salute you. On her way down from the peak, her oxygen cylinder exhausted. But her spirit didn't. The fellow Sherpa was afraid if she will live to recite her triumph story. But as they say, 'God helps those who help themselves' and just like a miracle or a co-incidence, one mountaineer dropped down his spare cylinder as he was not able to carry it on the steep slope. A ray of hope, the source of her survival emerge. She completed her entire summit and emerged victorious. Because according to her every NO is just an excuse to escape from accomplishment. World remembers only victors and yes, she emerged as a Victor. AND, she is an author. She has jotted down her inspirational story under the title "Born again on the mountain", launched by Prime minister Narendra Modi in December 2014.
I recommend you all to watch her speaking of her encounter with the iffy life. Please don't miss this video. I bet you will feel the difference after watching this. Your outlook towards life might change and you will become a more better and confident person to take hold of your very own life.
